    MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS

During these unprecedented and trying times we have all been impacted through COVID-19 and for many the affect has resulted in a dramatic decline in profit or temporary closure. As a Chamber even though we are still active providing updated information and arranging e-blasts on behalf of members, conducting webinars etc, we recognize that our ability to fully service the members through our normal means and to provide face to face networking has been affected.

With this in mind I am pleased to advise that your Board has made the decision to extend all future renewals for 2020 to the 31st of January 2021 by which time we hope that life resembles some form of normality and our businesses are better positioned.

If you sign up as a new member during this time your membership will not be due for payment until the 31st January 2021.

The exit from this pandemic and its affects will be challenging and for many the repositioning of your brand may also be a challenge. If from a Marketing and Branding perspective you would like some free advice or an external set of eyes, one of our board members Chris Hekeik from ModeMedia has kindly offered his services. Chris is happy to speak to any of our members to help better position them for what may well be a very different environment in coming months post COVID-19. Please do not hesitate to contact Chris directly at chris@modemedia.com.au

I would also like to take this opportunity to again stress that we are Still Open for Business and should you require any support from the Chamber then we are available for you. Please do not hesitate to email me at trevor@greaterbbc.org.au if we can help in any way even if its just to have a conversation.

    Stay Safe

    Kind Regards

    Trevor Oldfield AM KSJ JP

    A message from our PRESIDENT

    ____________________________________________________________________

Based on recent activity associated with the CoronaVirus (COVID-19), the Board of the Chamber have decided that in the best interests of our members and guests, the Business After Five scheduled to be hosted by BusinessDEPOT on Thursday 19th March be postponed. The health and well-being of our members and guests is paramount and as a Board we feel that the risk associated with a public event even of this nature at this time is too high. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you at a future event. GBBC will provide weekly updates to all members to keep you informed of any changes to our schedules.

As the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) are increasingly felt across Australia and the world, it is important that we are all ready for the impacts to our personal and professional lives. At this stage the full and long-term impacts are unknown, so it is important that we are preparing ourselves for business continuity and keep up to date with what is happening at a global and local level.

To minimise your risk of exposure:

    Wash your hands frequently

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

    Maintain social distancing

Maintain at least 1.5 metres distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.

    Practice respiratory hygiene

Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.

If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early

Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.

It’s obvious that there are certain pages on a website that are more important than other pages. What’s not so obvious is what a small business would need to do to capitalize on the traffic coming through to these pages. Knowing what pages to have on your website isn’t rocket science. Knowing how to optimise these pages for a better user experience and conversions takes a little more thinking.

If you’re no stranger to website analytics you may see there are certain pages on your website that always perform better than others. And more often than not these top-performing pages are the more important on your website. Why?
